A couple nights a week we do popcorn
parties. After baths we put on our
“cozies”, make popcorn, and watch a movie.
The current movie list has been Frosty the Snowman or anything Mickey
Mouse. Regardless of the show, it’s a
fun relaxing activity for all of us. My
favorite way to make popcorn is so simple and it’s delicious too.
Items Needed:
Brown paper lunch sacks
White popcorn kernels
(I think it’s so much better than yellow or mixed)
Coconut Oil
Seasoning Salt
Place 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in the
bottom of the paper sack. Then pour in ¼
cup of kernels. Fold the bag over twice
and stick it in the microwave. I set
ours for 2 minutes and 20 seconds (we have now mastered the time) but it will
vary depending on your microwave. Right
when it’s done I put the seasoning salt on so that it sticks better. The down side of this healthy version of
popcorn, according to my husband, is that there isn’t enough (or any) butter
for the salt to stick to – so you have to be quick with the seasoning. I have tried putting it in the bag along with
the other ingredients and it may work a bit better? So, next time you are itching for a
snack – give this a whirl and let me know how it goes.
