My Cup Runneth Over
Last month we had professional family
photos taken. This was the first time
that all four of us have posed together for the camera. I was beyond excited as the weather had been
beautiful and the leaves on the trees were magnificent colors of red, orange,
and gold. As luck would have it, the day
of our shoot the temperatures dropped drastically and it rained and continued
to mist into the afternoon. Even still,
we bundled up the kids and followed our photographer to a nearby State Park.
The second we were ready to begin it was
like a ticking time bomb went off and neither of the kids wanted to
cooperate. I was prepared for a little
of this from Miss Tess and had conveniently packed a pile of snacks as
bribery. Candy works every time and I’m
not ashamed to break out all the stops for a perfect picture. However, neither David nor I were prepared
for the crabbiness that ensued with Brady.
He fussed and cried for all but probably five minutes of our hour long
shoot. (Looking back we now know he
truly wasn’t feeling well as the very next day was our first trip to the ER
with him that month).
I was certain that the photographer wouldn’t get a single good shot. And I also felt awful that she had probably just wasted her afternoon with us. Yet, low and behold we sure did get some classics. There may have not been many to choose from, but those that we got just melt my heart. Here is a little sneak peak.
2. Thanksgiving Treat
I stumble across this cute idea on Pinterest a while back and completely forgot about it. I was reminded of it as I was preparing this weeks blog post on holiday treats. Isn't this a great idea for adults kids to have during Thanksgiving?

3. Christmas Cards
Yes, it's that time of year already. I just finished selecting our Christmas cards! I have been going back and forth on some different designs but I think I found one that suits. There are so many amazing sales right now. I ordered mine for 40% off. I am a sucker for a savings so I was delighted to make the purchase. Here's hoping the final package is what I envisioned!
4. Real Life
I've spent some time thinking of different things to post on the blog and came up with an idea. Of course it's easy to post about the fun, happy, and exciting things happening but realistically life isn't always perfect. That being said, I've decided I'm going to start posting some of my real life or "you know you're a parent when" situations with all of you.
Without further ado I'll give you my first example-Real Life #1.
I was at work and was getting ready to meet with some visitors for a tour of the clinic. I looked like a mess. I always keep a comb in my purse but at that moment it was missing...conveniently. I searched for a replacement or anything I could use as a backup and here's what I found.

Yep, I used the brush that came with Tessa's Frozen Anna doll. Whatver you gotta do, and it worked surprisingly well. Maybe that's why Anna's hair looks flawless? ;)
5. Weekend!
Yay, it is Friday and I couldn't be happier! This was a busy week for all of us, and I can't wait to take a step back and relax this weekend. What makes it even better is that it is David's weekend off so we have Saturday morning through Monday morning with him. I hardly know what to do! What are your weekend plans?

Your kids look adorable in those photos! You never would have been able to guess how miserable the day may have been. And if those are the individual photos, I can only imagine how well the group photos turned out.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the ice cream cone Thanksgiving idea. I pinned something similar forever ago, but have yet to make it happen. We're not hosting Thanksgiving this year, but maybe next year I can pull off something similar!
Thanks so much @shoshanah! I was extremely relieved to see some wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteI think you should try the Thanksgiving cones and bring them with you to the host's house! A sweet surprise for everyone!
