An Okoboji Weekend

Friday night was a complete rat-race with insane traffic getting home, attempting to get a nutritious meal in the kids, and making sure everyone was dressed and bundled up for trick-or-treating on time.  It was so cold that we only went to four houses before coming home to hand out candy ourselves.  Tessa loved holding the bowl of candy and seeing all the costumes; although there were a few that made her hide behind my leg.  Needless to say, we were all ready for bathtime and pjs once 8:30 rolled around.  Little miss was so tired she even fell asleep holding my hand.  I may have laid there another 20 minutes just because.

We had gone back and forth on our weekend plans and even though we should have stayed home to get some projects completed, we decided we would head to Okoboji to see my parents and my brother's family.  David should have been home at 7:30 but had a late call and didn't get home until close to 10:00 (firefighter family problems).  I was ready to cancel the trip but since I already had everyone packed, we took off for the 3.5 hour drive north.  We had a late lunch with everyone and spent the day watching the kids play together.  There's nothing better than a little cousin time.  We got home on Sunday around dinner time and spent the rest of the evening playing catch-up and preparing for the week ahead.  It's going to be another busy one!  I hope you all had good weekends and enjoyed your extra hour of relaxation. ;)
