5 on Friday: Moving, Beds, & More

1.  Fit For A King
For the past few years (yes, years) the hubs has wanted to get a king size bed.  I have always been against the idea.  I don’t really have a particular reason why.  I guess in my mind it didn’t make sense to have anything larger than want we currently owned.  The size of our bed was sufficient for us, a queen doesn’t take up as much square footage in a bedroom, and I love my sleigh bedroom set.

Well, this past week I lost a battle over the beds.  While I was at work, David picked up a new king size mattress, installed it himself, and moved two additional mattresses around in a game of switcheroo within the house.  At first I really didn’t know what to say.  Although in my mind I’m thinking “really, is this necessary?” and “oh my goodness, my house is a mess.”  I kept all my negative thoughts circulating throughout my mind and decided to just have a positive outlook on all of this.  The hubs is rarely one to have an opinion on anything about the house.  Nor does he want to spend any money (unless it’s for a new T.V.) so I let him cherish this moment and live in the excitement of it all.
Here it is two days later and all I can say now is “why the heck didn’t we purchase a king size bed earlier!”  Seriously, my favorite part is how I feel like I’m sleeping by myself!  Weird, I know, but I love that I have so much room to spread out!  Plus, the type of mattress we purchased prohibits you from feeling any other movement.
Yesterday at 3:45am there was a little man next to my face whispering “good morning mommy” that I immediately picked up and threw into bed with us.  Mommy’s morning wasn’t starting that early and since he had dry pants I wasn’t about to get up either.  Then, when my alarm went off for real I looked over and there was Tessa, David, Brady, myself, and our pup Mason.  Yep, we have four bedrooms in our home and the whole darn family was in one bed!  At least I didn’t realize it though.  Thank you brand new bed and here’s too many winter nights snuggled up together!
2.  Gummi-Bear
A couple of months ago, a friend of ours sent me a link to a silly kid’s song about a gummi-bear.  I made the mistake of introducing it to the kids and now they just love it.  They will dance around to this about as much as Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’.  Which is probably a better option for my two small children (mommy for the win on that one, ha!)
Here’s a little video of them breaking it down after dinner.  Yes, I believe it safety first for my children which is clearly displayed here with them dancing on my dining room chairs.  (What the video doesn’t show is Mr. Brady falling of his chair only moments after this fun – and he’s okay.)
3.  Cozy & At Home
It’s been almost two years since we’ve moved to Iowa and I am finally starting to get the feeling of home.  We left a lot behind; comforts of our house, my parents, a long established career, great friends, wonderful restaurants, and a good routine, etc.  It’s funny that it should take so long to get settled, but there have been a lot of transitions.  It was a quick move for us and we didn’t have a lot of time to make decisions.  We made two trips to find a home, purchased one and only three weeks later we had to move in and start our jobs.  Although our house wasn’t purchased as our forever home; it seems to be suiting us well and we have become quite fond of our neighborhood.  I love being able to take walks to the park, pull the kids in the wagon to go get ice cream cones, and maybe even someday see them walk down the street to school.  We’ve met some really great people through our jobs, other friends, and in our town and that has only helped ease the transition.  I think back to moving when I was a child and how hard that was; only to find that there are so many similarities as an adult!  Here’s hoping that over time we find ourselves truly at home in this city without ever having to uproot again.
4.  JJD
I’ve said it before and I will say it again and again…I love Jessie James Decker (and have a complete crush on her husband Eric that I’m not afraid to talk about)!  This girl is the epitome of “real” to me.  She’s goal oriented whether it comes to her career or her family, recognizes the important aspects of life (not material items), is such an advocate of women and kindness; not competition, is completely beautiful on her stance of femininity and sexiness with or without make-up…I could go on and on.
Anyway, she posted a photo on IG of her getting ready for date night that caused so many individuals to make comments about how amazing she looked post-baby.  And don’t get me wrong, she looks hot.  But I love how she followed it up with a ‘true’ photo of herself.  It wasn’t to disregard all the nice or not so nice comments, but just to remind women of what “it’s” all about.  If you don’t follow her on IG, you gotta!
5.  Friday Is Finally Here

Just as the title states, we made it!  I never wish time away but I am oh so happy that it is Friday.  I have a busy day at work that will hopefully be followed up with a fun-filled weekend.   I haven’t been able to squeeze in any fun new recipes lately and Miss Tess has been hounding me about it.  I am going to plan on making some time on Sunday for her and I to make a fun and festive treat.  Any cute or yummy ideas for me?
