Halloween Recap 2015

I know I am a bit late in posting these but we've had a crazy week regarding Mr. Brady yet again.  I'll talk more about that later.  For now, let's chat Halloween!

To kick off the start of the festivities, the kids and I met up with my cousin and her family for a trick or treat experience at the zoo.  I know I chatted about this in my last 5 on Friday but didn't want to spill the surprise on the kids' costumes too early.  Here are some photos from that event.

I Love These Kids!

In our little town we celebrate Beggar's Night which is literally just a Halloween celebration on the Eve of Halloween.  So, our activities were on Friday night.  I left work around 3pm so we could have dinner in our tummies before the candy binge began.  After dinner, I did quick baths for the kids and got them into their costumes.  Miss Tess was a butterfly and Mr. Brady was Santa Claus.  For the record, both kiddos picked their costumes this year despite my attempt at coordinating outfits.  You may remember reading that they were either going to be The Princess & The Frog or a fisherman with his goldfish.  Mommy lost the battle with her two very strong opinionated children.  Honestly though, what two year old wants to be Santa?  He doesn't even understand this yet so I cannot for the life of me figure out where this idea came from.  I found a costume, it worked, and I loved it!

Now, I'm not sure Brady loved it once he realized there was a hat and beard involved!  The first few pictures were not easy to take.  Once we left for trick-or-treating he wouldn't let me take them off!  It was sort of like when you dress up a dog in a costume and they don't move---that was Brady for about 20 minutes.  I never laughed so hard!  Eventually the little dude would turn his head and walk to the houses.
One idea that never occurred to me was how the other little kids may be confused about seeing "santa."  I had two different situations of little ones coming up to Brady and saying "Santa?" as they pointed to him.  Even though I wasn't prepared for the confusion, I was quick to explain that he wasn't the real santa.
Note to self: when considering costumes for next year, imagine them from the view of a child.

All in all, it was a great Halloween evening complete with costumes, candy, friends, family, and lots of fun!  I hope everyone had just as wonderful of a time!
